Art in the Park is a hands-on outdoor creative workshop where participants are guided through playful, structured art activities designed to spark curiosity, connection, and creative confidence. Set in a local park or green space, the workshop uses simple materials and clear prompts to support both adults and children to engage creatively with nature and each other. Participants explore themed exercises such as observational drawing, texture exploration, collage building, and imaginative prompts. No artistic experience is required, just a willingness to explore, experiment, and have a go.
Participants are guided through a selection of creative activities, which may include:
• Guided drawing prompts using pencils, texture tools, or natural surfaces.
• Creative observation exercises that encourage noticing patterns, shapes, and details in nature.
• Imaginative framing activities, such as drawing a “selfie” within a phone-shaped frame to explore identity and perspective.
• Collage-based storytelling, using magazine images to extend or transform a base image (e.g. birds, people, landscapes).
• Theme-based creation, with themes adapted to the group (nature, people, belonging, community, seasons, wellbeing).
Activities are adaptable for mixed-age groups, ensuring both children and adults feel included and capable.
This workshop is grounded in simple, accessible creative practices that:
• Reduce pressure and perfectionism.
• Encourage focus, curiosity, and play.
• Support emotional expression through making.
• Build confidence through guided success.
